CAROLINA BEACH — It’s back to business as usual at Freeman Park as the Town of Carolina Beach reopens the area for camping and other recreational activities following the closure of the park temporarily.

The park initially saw a closure due to the town’s beach nourishment project but it was extended due to extremely high tides making the beach unsafe.

Effective Wednesday, all areas of the park are open to visitors starting at 8 a.m., according to a town press release.

The town is also asking visitors to remember a few things when visiting:

• Be aware of tidal schedules and plan your visit accordingly.

• Driving vehicles below the high tide mark is prohibited.

• Starting April 1, overnight camping is only allowed with a paid reservation and in assigned campsites.

• When leaving the park, remove all trash and items you brought with you.
