CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY)–Memorial Day weekend brought warm weather and three days off bringing people out of their home. It turned into a much needed spike in revenue for local water sport businesses.

Paddle NC at Carolina Beach opened its doors Friday after being shut down on March 25th due to the coronavirus outbreak. This past weekend however was exactly what they say they needed revenue wise. According to the owner, business was constant at all three locations along the coast.

The staff in Carolina Beach says opening on Memorial Day weekend was a challenge, but they are glad to be back serving the community in the best way they know how.

“The coronavirus was tough on the company and it was also tough on us because we had planned on having a summer gig,”said Carolina Beach Paddle NC manager Marc Hasell. “Then on top of that not having that preseason to kinda get in the swing of things, we jumped right into Memorial Day weekend. So, it was a definitely a lot.”

If you are interested in a rental or guided tour you can visit the Paddle NC website to make a reservation. Paddle NC has three locations at the Carolina Beach State Park, Topsail Beach, and Hammocks Beach State Park.
